They call it Mellow Yellow

Remember this relic from age that brought you polyester pants suits, hot pants, bad hair and comb overs.  Apparently a lot of people want to forget that era.  I found this abandoned thing at Goodwill.  It must of been there quit awhile as I got it for 99 cents.

To be honest the only reason I bought it was the 99 cent price tag.  But not any more, I will now keep an eye out for these forgotten reminders of a past some purposely  forgot. 

Do you see the potential?  All I had to do was remove the top part by cutting the wire and unscrewing it in the middle.  I screwed the piece under the wood back in with wood screws (it was a nut and bolt system).

Fill in the holes with a real easy tip.  Shove a chopstick in the holes and break off.  Take some wood glue and sawdust and make a paste and shove in the holes so the hole is fully filled.  Then wait until dry, find something else to work on so you can forget about it later.  Then sand it down,....tada no more hole. 

I did toy with the idea of this.....I just loved it but I needed something more practical. 

Ok, I did also think about possibly tile to cover the top of the table.  I really wanted to make sure it would be water proof.  But that would of been too much time and money. 

After filling in the holes and then sanding it down, this is what I came up with.  Total cost?  99CENTS!!!!!

TAAAAA-DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! 

It came out better than I expected :) 

The top was painted grey and then I used my yellow paint pen to draw the dandelion.

Then I sealed it up with a few coats of clear. 

Yep, definitely best dollar I ever spent.

Goal Fail? Or redesign

I wanted to post this idea I had, that I think I saw some where but don't have a good enough memory to tell you where. I had found a frame that had been thrown out and I painted orange. I was going to turn it into a organizer thingy for my desk area. Still got the idea but haven't been able to do anything. I got sick :( boo and I have so much to do.

I was trying to be professional and stay consistent in my blogging.  I think I have failed at least in what I wanted to do.  I have the hardest time doing nothing even when I can't do much.

 So I have laid here and painted another purse.  I bought a few of these purses clearance because they were plain canvas with a pink flower that I removed.  I splattered paint and dye first  .Then taped off lines and spray painted the black stripes and then went back over it with my design with fabric paint.  STAR SHINE  tada!!!  I napped in between the paint drying. 

I hope it's cool, my cool meter is a little dated and sometimes gets stuck in the 80's.  I got a thumbs up from my daughter so I must be getting close

new painted stuff!!!,.....well kinda new

This is more stuff I painted.  I have been trying to reduce my art center clutter and have stumbled across projects I haven't completed.  Case in point- canvas shoes and canvas handbag.  I had grand delusions of selling them on Etsy but selling things on Etsy isn't as easy as I thought it would be.I will try again!!  Sound the alarm!!! Do do doooooooooo!!!   So anyway I'll let you know the best way to do this.  Just in case you want to jazz up a pair of shoes.   First, stick with simple.  Find a design you like and then use fabric markers.  They won't wash off.  Draw an outline and then paint with fabric paint and a paint brush.I have always loved to paint and this is something that is useful as well as pretty.  Plus fabric paint is CHEAP!!!  Which is another thing I love :) 

Also ~hint~ fabric markers help to clean up your lines when you're done painting.

Old File Cabinets ReDo

So what do you do with an old, heavy, extremely loud filing cabinet? Continue to us it to gather clutter because do you really need to file that much stuff?

I say NO! How funny. The best part is they are free! Free is my favorite number, in case you didn't know. So now the problem....

I have two sons and a husband who often run over my pots with the lawn mower. So I think hmmmmmmm file cabinets could survive a nuclear bomb it should handle them. I rip out the drawers find a funky color to play off the army grey and spray paint it. Put some holes in the bottom and now I got me a giant planter that can survive anything!!! I think I'm going to plant a pizza garden. You know, tomatoes, basil, oregano, green peppers and stuff like that. So anyway I hope it inspires some one out there to re purpose something they usually through away. Paint is amazing!! ps. my taping skills need improvement.

Emo tree in my guestroom

This is the "emo tree" as my kids have named it, in the guestroom. It is the smallest room in the house with one window. In my desire to have it more welcoming and delusions of making it seem better. I painted a monochromatic bare tree. In hindsight, I still love the tree, but it does feel dark and moody. Maybe the color choice is too cold. It was fun and I had other whimsical things in the room that balance the dark out. I am posting this because it is fixing to be covered with a Floridian landscape. My mom is going to be moving in with us and I want her to feel welcome and with a touch of her old home. I know it's a hard transfer from Florida to Washington so I'm hoping to bring the sun into her room. I will post pics after the transformation.

awesome Cafe cups

So I have finially finished painting and firing the cafe cups. Everyone has theirs and I have about 12 and hoping to sell them on Etsy. Which is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Seems Ebay is a little easier. Although I have not done as much research on Etsy as I did Ebay. I do so hope someone will fall in love with them. Either the bi-polar Phil cups or the Seasons cups or the cups of encouragement. I do love them all and I want to keep them but I am afraid I will freak out if one of my kids breaks one. So better to send them off to a new and loving home.

I am going to post all the pics of them here even if know one reads this they will have a home in the internet internity. Circling the globe and landing in strange places until someone steals my idea and becomes a millionair from their good business sense.
