Helloooooooo out there

Yikes!!!  I've been missing in action!!1

Sorry my bad.

I caught a cold and then salmonella and then shingles to top it off.  It was a try two get one free thing.

But before that happened I found these two lamps at Goodwilll for 1.29 each. 

I actually bought them for my niece but she didn't want any more lamps.  Soooooo I claimed them.

A little white paint and they are happening already. 

As the paint was drying I wandered around my lawn and found a water lily had bloomed.

So I took this amazing picture of it. 

So now that the lamps are dry and I know where I want to put them.  I need shades to just bring that bad boy home.

I searched online for days, this was my laying flat and subconscious days.

I finally found them and then had to wait some more. 

I found things to amuse me.

Meanwhile my half dead tomato plant that I threw in my file cabinet planter decided to take over the world while I slept. 

When I did wander out side I was taken aback and a little terrified.  I've seen "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"  and I think it started this way. 

Then as I went back to the safety of my home my shades finally arrived.

They were perfect!! 

I really love them <3 nbsp="nbsp" p="p">

I did a full picture of both of them but the window above the bed has the window fan in it with cardboard and duck tape and I just really didn't want to blow the illusion of harmony.

Even though I just told you about it, hmmmm, ok ignore what I said and look at the picture.

Oh I also broke down and bought some pillows for my couch. 

I still have intentions of making some pillows but sometimes my intentions end up as pavement to a hot place.

 

PS  we did some beach time too :)

Soooo couldn't resist!!

I was wondering around Walmart looking for last minute items for school.  I stumbled upon this.  I love the color and the price tag said 3 dollars, it was in my arms before my brain could protest with "do you really need it?".  Even my son said "Why?" and I said because it's 3 dollars.

 So I like the color but it's kinda boring and not girly enough.  So I found an Ikea lampshade at the ReStore for FREE and crocheted around it with bright pink and white (? hairy, fuzzy?) yarn.  Put it together and what do you got?

It cast such a nice glow :)

Alas my daughter is older and no longer in the pink stage but I do have great nieces who love pink :)

So for 3 dollars I have a very fun and fuzzy pinkalicious lamp.  Soon to be someone else's pinkalicious lamp.

Freecycle!!! Cooooooool style Daddio

So my husband plays drums, has for almost his whole life.  Needless to say he has equipment and more equipment.  A high-hat stand broke and was no longer functioning even after much time messing with it.  He told me to throw it out and I said "can I use it?"   I myself can not play drums and have been the source of amusement when I have tried.

I then stared at it for a day and thought it would be a totally awesome lamp for my son.  I had previously bought a lamp from a thrift store for it's parts.  I tore apart the old lamp and now had a perfectly usable wire with switch.  I pulled out all the stuff inside the high hat stand which left me with this shiny chrome stand.  Ran the wire up through and added the top.  Found a drum shade in need of repair and used shiny silver duck tape.

I know it's cool because now my husband wants to put it back with his drum set and is now keeping his eyes open for more castaway stands to turn into lamps.
