Critter Hat

This is my great nephew Jacob. He is six months old.

I made him a critter hat.  It is the same as the cat hats but with round ears.

I thought it was cute.

And he was the perfect model.
I am making a brown one with blue accents right now.  It will be cuter than the one before.
If you can make a hat, you can make one of these.
I would make a tutorial but it would only leave you confused.  Maybe I can find a friend who speaks crochet and she can interpret.   I will work on it..

Sitting here with a sharpie

So I didn't make it to the pumpkin patch, I was sick.  I've been wanting to go but my kids are teenagers and the thought of their mom running around the pumpkin patch calling out for the great pumpkin makes them cringe.  Muaaahahhaahhahaah I am the true horror!   I have often danced in public to much horror of my son.  I am of the mind "learn to not care what people think, it'll make life easier".  He sadly is not.  Although my daughter has skipped through produce with me  a few times.  Or just singing veggie tales theme song.  Although not as much as when she was 4.
I say dare to be silly!
Needless to say I do not have a pumpkin.  yes feel bad for me, it's ok I won't tell anyone.

I did find this awesomely huge plastic barrel (yes, barrel) of cheese puffs.  The first I even ever heard of them was watching Chuck last year.    This is chuck, if you get the chance it is awesome.  http://www.nbc.com/chuck/

So anyway when you put two and two together you get this
This is my Puffolantern. I betcha anyone can do this.  Probably could do it better.

Almost finished Cementary Benches

Why oh why do I wait?  When will I learn?  I fear the answer is never.  Oh well, maybe one day I will have extra help or extra money to buy some help.  Until that day I will press on and pillage the free pile.

Ok so I had my son cut some butt size strips from this wood siding I had pillaged from an house being built in our neighborhood.  The told me I could take as much as I wanted of their scrap pile.  I was as giddy as a school girl back in the 1800's.  I knew this stuff would come in handy.  I had already made a shed from it.  So I stapled a few old pillows I didn't have the heart to get rid of but were just too flat to be of use.  But they will be great for the graves.
.I had bought some astro turf a few month ago and used it to cover the pillows and stapled it underneath.
The creepy hand made their way out of a box and onto the grave.  I drilled two holes and used chopsticks to shove into the hand and then into the holes.I drilled more holes for the grass as well.  I also glued on some fake flies I found at the Dollar Tree Store.  I then staples some black plastic for the skirt and proceeded to rip holes in it.I still need to make the slipcovers look more like a headstone and am working on that tomorrow.  At the party there will be three of these around the dance floor.  Underneath will be red lights and fog (dry ice and fog machine).  This is a 3 chair bench and it looks funny right now because it's only has 2 chairs.  I can't wait for the party to be able to show ya'll the stuff in it's environment.  It kinda looses the feel with all my background clutter.  My house is not big enough to be able to really show something.  At least not the way I see so many blogs stage their photos.  Some of those pics are amazing and make me feel so unworthy.

I've added new pics

These are my best projects

Hi to all who may read this.  I always focus on crafts and not much of  my personal life.  It's easier to share ideas than anything else.  But today I am doing something different.  Something I may never do again, I'm going to show you a little of my life.  These are truly my best on going project ever!!!
My son Brandon and my daughter Amber.
They are smart, funny, talented, lovable, growing in wisdom (at times) and hopelessly teenagers.
It is truly an on going project and I revel the times we are connected.  I love how our relationship has grown through the years and as they get older we have become more than child/parent.
So that's the brief glimpse into my world.  I have more crafts coming as long as I don't get caught up in looking at other peoples. ahhahaaha   The longer I read other blogs and their fabulousness, the more I feel inadequate.

PS  Why yes that is a giant whale tail they are on.  You can find it at the Seattle Center over by the science museum.

Bring on the pumpkin patch!

So one of my best friend's daughter is having her birthday at the local pumpkin patch.  It is soon and I am running out of time to come up with something fabulous.  Another one of my friends who has quite the talent with yarn made these adorable hats.  I was inspired to try my hand at this one.  So with no delays, here is my beautiful daughter modeling my newest hat creation.    The Pumpkin Skulley

I really don't like sewing

I am so out of the box, that I can't stand any kind of structure.  Sewing takes a lot of steps and finessing.  I don't enjoy it, and when I have to sew everyone knows I don't enjoy it.  I told my husband "I hate sewing!!" and in his male mind confusion was born.  Then why he demands did you have me buy you a sewing machine?  He doesn't get it.  Because I still need one.  I need one because I know how to sew and it's cheaper than buying.   So logical in my head, but in his it just rolls around until he shakes it out. Hahahahha

So the reason I tell you all of that is so you know what I am going through.  I am in the midst of planning this retro zombie party for my son's 18th birthday.  We are aiming at 100 teenagers, yes I know I am kinda crazy, so there's much to be done.  We are going to rent the hall downtown and set up there.  Now comes the reason for sewing......the chairs are light blue.  So doesn't go with retro zombie.  So luckily Walmart has this fabric sale thing going on.  5yd bolts for 5 dollars.  They had shiny red stretchy fabric that would go perfectly.  So now I sit and cut and sew simple slipcovers for over 50 chairs.  Bleh, in the midst of all this cutting and sewing I made a break for some bust out creativity.

I have a few cigar boxes lurking around.  That are made of wood.  I think I maybe behind in this trend but I don't care.  It requires no sewing!  I gather up all my left-overs from previous crafts and just had fun.  Kinda had teenage girl in mind when doing this.

And now for the finished product!!!!!
I used duct tape, craft paper, chains, beads, sequins, markers, paint pens, and other stuff that I found.  I thought it would make a good lunch box as well as a purse or a maker holder.  I love it.  Think I might put a new pack of sharpies in it and give it as a gift to one of the many teen girls I know.

PS  to all my sewing friends out there.  I love you and what you do and look on you with awe and wonder.  I just don't have it in me.  :(  but am soooo glad you do.
